The United Nations Deserves Better Thank Mr. Treki

23rd of September 2009

THE UNITED NATIONS DESERVES BETTER THAN
H.E. Dr. ALI ABDUSSALAM TREKI

Today at the opening of the 64th session of the General Assembly at the United Nations, Mr. Treki responded to questions from reporters. I agreed with the placement of Mr. Treki as the President of the United Nations based on past records on Human Rights issues and for his ability to find common ground with International Affairs.

There were many around the world who questioned his sincerity or his ability to focus and persuade the General Assembly. I felt that sometimes a job as large as the President of the United Nations can be done by someone with passion as apposed to the perfect politician. Due to Mr. Treki’s human rights background, I was hoping he would be the right man for the job.

The purpose of the United Nations is listed on their website (http://www.un.org/en/documents/charter/chapter1.shtml), and I was reminded to read this Charter again after such a disappointment with the responses made in today’s interview. If you see the first four purposes under Article 1:
1. To maintain international peace and security, and to that end: to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace, and to bring about by peaceful means, and in conformity with the principles of justice and international law, adjustment or settlement of international disputes or situations which might lead to a breach of the peace;
2. To develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples, and to take other appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace;
3. To achieve international co-operation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural, or humanitarian character, and in promoting and encouraging respect for human rights and for fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, sex, language, or religion; and
4. To be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations in the attainment of these common ends.

I was greatly saddened and angered based on the hateful, insensitive responses Mr. Treki made when asked about the passage of a resolution for universal decriminalization of homosexuality. Mr. Treki replied to the questions with, “As a Muslim, I am not in favor of it…it is not accepted by the majority of countries. My opinion is not in favor of this matter at all. I think it’s not really acceptable by our religion, our traditions.” He went on to explain “It is not acceptable in the majority of the world. And there are some countries that allow that, thinking it is kind of democracy…I think it is not.”

The first purpose listed in the Charter for the United Nations was violated by its own President when he deliberately broke the peace that was voted in with the passage of this resolution. The resolution was passed and the President of the organization should set his own personal ideology aside in favor of setting and maintaining peace among rivaling nations, but he disrupted the peace, which violates this first purpose.

The second purpose is to develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self determination of peoples; however, Mr. Treki did not respect the more than one billion homosexuals in this world or those countries that have passed laws disabling those hate mongers such as Mr. Treki from violating our civil rights.

The third purpose in the Charter for the United Nations is to achieve the international co-operation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural, or humanitarian character, and in promoting and encouraging respect for human rights and for fundamental freedoms. Mr.Treki completely obliterated this purpose and pushed his own agenda of HATE and DISCRIMINATION because this segment of the world’s population does not meet with his approval. This is not who the world needs running the organization that is supposed to be looking out for those being oppressed. We don’t need to put HITLER in charge of the organization responsible for HUMAN RIGHTS for billions of souls.

I am one that intends to push for the resignation or removal of Mr. Ali Abdussalam Treki from the position as President of the United Nations. The world deserves someone who will fight for all of our souls and not a segregated portion that meets his needs.

LOVE IS NEVER WRONG ~ HATE IS NEVER RIGHT
