What Makes Us FEAR?

What Makes Us FEAR?

I always get into trouble when I wax philosophical, so of course I’m a problem child right now. LOL! That’s OK; sometimes I think I was born to be an instigator. It is the one thing I am amazingly good at.

The headlines read like a horrible map that could easily be twisted around as a testament that the world is heading straight for “Armageddon”, but the optimist within me knows humanity has the ability to change our direction and move us to a better path, a good and just path.

What has the Iranian Government and military fighting in the streets of its neighboring country - Iraq? Why is China willing to eradicate anyone who does not speak the message disseminated by the Government? Why would the Chinese Government oppress such humbled and wise people, the Tibetans? What drives the Christian population around the world into oppressing innocent people with righteous indignation even when they are faced with the hypocrisy of their own actions? Why does the Russian Government force their people to support the government and now the Mafia driven society that their new freedoms ushered in place of peace? Look to more than half of the third-world countries and you see a dictator or War Load oppressing all who won’t provide in excess for the one in control. What drives these who cold lead positively to dominance, control, force, brutality no matter if it is done in the name of a religion or not?

~ FEAR DOES ~

When you find that a mass of people are controlled as in Iran, China, Russia, South Africa, Columbia, Cuba and many others parts of the world that seem to be devoured by fanatical Muslims, fanatical Christians, drugs and crime. Religion like a War Load uses fear to control and dominate the people surrounding them. The Muslim faith is rebelling against more than a thousand years against Christian oppression through domination and forced control. As I’ve indicated for years, you can only oppress a people for so long and eventually they find a way to free themselves from the shackles and chains binding them. China will eventually have to free Tibet from its iron fist; the only question is how many innocent people will be murdered ruining thousands of lives until the inevitable occurs. Iran keeps such a tight hold over its people as a means of control. Much of the fanatical Muslim faith is based on fear, brutality and control, but don’t blame the Muslim religion for what Christianity perfected. If your citizens are beaten, poor and weakened with little access to the outside world; it is extremely easy to dominate them controlling what they think and believe. If you will look at every country that is controlled by a dictator, War Lord, fanatical Muslim leader and equally fanatical Christian leader; you can notice the conditions are as I describe. There is very little inward or outward communications that is not controlled by the region’s leaders. Populations are kept under educated as a direct means of control. A learned core population can think for itself while teaching others equating to a disastrous consequence for those controlling governments.

The core to everything described is based on FEAR. They fear that as the populace educates themselves they will be far more difficult to control. Fear that someone in your ranks will find your weakness and use it against you. Fear that they won’t do as you want and need them to do. Fear that in your midst are those who are not what you think or want them to be. Organized Religion has been using fear tactics for centuries as a means of control over their parishioners. Governments around the world, including our very own, use Fear to galvanize its population into support that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to achieve without such a catalyst. There is nothing that will motivate congregations or voters in to increasing donations more than fear and there is nothing that grows an agreeable mass larger than fear. In the United States there was a marked increase in the number of people joining churches with donations growing to amounts that had not been seen in centuries just after 9/11. It was a dream come true for organized religion and the government in one single swipe.

My questions are how does a gay man cause fear in the hearts and minds of millions of Christians and Muslims? How can a man showing love and affection to another man disturb the love one man has for a woman? How can people honestly think there is only one kind of love in this world? If you believe in an all powerful creator, why would that deity create only one type of love? How could you believe that an omnipresent being would create a human only to tell that person their life is demonstrative, not just and not right? What drives one government bent on controlling its population to point the finger at another civilization saying they are the enemy…they are what makes your world wrong and we must hate, loath and kill them at all cost? How does one government justify the domination and murder of another group of people? Can a nation of people justify the brutally destroying another nation for simple natural resources? Shouldn’t the people being killed be more valuable than the oil, gas, precious stones or other natural resource?

I have advocated that we are all interconnected in this world, so when will we start treating others the way we demand to be treated? When is our first though about them instead of us…myself…..me? When do we ask what we can do to help instead of expect others to help us? When does one voice stand above and beyond the hordes of others to be heard and followed towards good and not bad?

The answers to all of these questions center on this one subject – when we eliminate fear from our hearts and our minds. We will stop dictators, war lords, egregiously wrong Presidents when we stop fearing what they do and unite as a common voice around the world.

It is easier to understand fear when you are an adult helping a child deal with their fear of the dark. The child is stricken by what they don’t know is under their bed or in their closet. The dark is the unknown and it can paralyze the mind, making it run wild with images of monsters, beast and anything that terrifies the mind. A night light can illuminate the problem in a number of ways, but the most dramatic is to force the child into seeing that what they fear is fear itself and has nothing to do with where their mind take them. That night light helps the child, but only temporarily while the fear was never faced, it was simply tenuously pushed aside only to have to be dealt with another time or in another place. But light can show the error in our ways and force the mind to recognize that what I feared was myself and what I did not know as apposed to any real danger. That is the light we need to shine on bad religion, bad governments, war lords and drug cartels. When we stop allowing them to use fear to motivate and move us in the direction they want us to go. When we shine a light in the dark under-bellies of even those we regard highly such as religious leaders and politics; that is when we take control of our own destinies as the human race. That is when society as a whole disavows those who would use us and do harm to us for their benefits and not ours. That is when we an see two people in love and not see two men, two women, a black and white, mixed races or mixed nationalities; just pure and simple love. Wouldn’t that be a world worth imagining?

Your humble servant – Todd M. Dobson
